10 days ago I decided to tackle the Brewdog #PosterDog competition. Today I submitted the above designs.
Those of you that follow me on Twitter and Instagram (@beanmcn on both if you don’t) will know that I spend a fair bit of my spare time doodling - which normal revolves around bears, maybe a cat or two. But outside of the ‘bear pages’ of my sketchbooks, I had never really undertaken a full-on illustration to the end.
My doodles more often than not restrained within solid black Posca lines and plenty of white space, but the time has come to push myself to think (and draw!) outside the box.
The Brewdog competition was the perfect opportunity to stretch my creative legs - it gave me a relaxed brief to mess about with, a limited timescale (so I had to push myself) and at the end of the day it had a prize - beer. Bonus!
And so I got to work!
After emailing Matthew to get some fresh eyes on the progress, and some standard chat about bins and strawberries, I was back at it - refreshed and inspired with his fresh knowledge.
I’m not expecting to win the competition. I would like to think that I’ll rank higher than a lot of the submissions, but there’s still a fair few really good entries…
Now, just to sit back with a beer and take my bears to a new place - Outside the Box. Watch this space.
Snapped a few pics the other night #dslr #invergordon
Careful now, matchstick Sauron #doodles
Playing about with some ideas for the @brewdog #posterdog competition. #beer!
Stocked up on Posca’s for a while. Plus, bonus free pen from @cultpens :)
I don’t often reblog cat posts, but these are SUPERCATS!
na na na na MEOW!!
(I hate myself for that)
Did somebody say cats wearing capes in mid-air filmed in slow-motion?
